About Us

Lindsay Archer

"I grew up in the Bay Area and began riding and showing ponies at a very young age. My junior years were spent training with Karen Healey in southern California. In 1996 I won the PCHA Horsemanship Finals. After a two and half year break to focus on academics, I returned to riding with Karen Healey in July of 1999. That fall I was Res. Champion in the AHSA Zone 10 Regional Medal Finals. In addition, I finished in the top 10 of the Zone 10 Maclay Regional Finals which qualified me for the National Horse Show at Madison Square Garden. At the Pennsylvania National, I finished in the top 25 in the AHSA Medal Finals.

Matt Archer

Matt Archer grew up in and around the Fresno, CA area. He started out on the show circuit in the children's hunter ring and gradually moved over to the jumper ring. Over the years he worked with Bob Walker and Butch and Lu Thomas. More recently he has spent time working with Leslie Burr Howard, Lise Quintero and Buddy Brown.

During the summer of 2003, Matt travelled to Europe to work at the sale barn of Alan Waldman and Egbert Schep. While he was there he learned countless skills. He was exposed not only to the European methods of training horses, but to their methods of selling horses as well.

Our Training Program

A typical horse in the training program at Shady Lane Farm gets two to three training rides per week. The horse's owners typically take two to three lessons per week. In addition, all horses get turned out three to four times per week in our irrigated pastures and are put on our eurociser at least once per day.

All of our clients attend between six and twelve horse shows per year. The majority of those shows are located in Northern California, but the barn usually attends three to four shows a year in Southern California.
